The Oxford School is a private English language facility located in the centre of Immensee, Canton Schwyz. The school is owned and run by Mrs Susannah Illi a British / Swiss national whose mother tongue is English. Susannah is convinced in the profit of the early learning of a second language. This is backed-up by numerous official studies. There have been many in recent years, researching young children and the learning of a second language.
Most of the results show many positive benefits. Governments and schools around the world are trying to introduce a second language earlier in their schools, but training the teachers is both costly and time consuming. Most adults know how difficult it can be to learn a new skill later in life.

What are some of the benefits these research studies have shown? Many young children enjoy learning a second language, they lack self-consciousness and are better able to mimic authentic

accents and are therefore more likely to speak like a native. Learning a language early not only helps with the accent but they are more likely to be truly proficient. Studies have also shown that many bilingual children learn to read and write quicker and more easily in their mother tongue and thinking skills and problem solving skills also improve.
As a result of early learning, bilingual adults gain a definite advantage in life. Firstly they are able to communicate with more people, and through this they have greater career possibilities. Advantages are gained in the workplace by the opening up of more job opportunities involving communication since Companies have to be competitive in the global market. With the heavy influence of the USA in world trade, political affairs and global communication English is fast becoming the international language. The Internet is becoming more and more important and more widely used worldwide and the main Internet language is English.
Exposing children to English early is a wonderful gift that parents can give their children!
